The orchestra start this season with Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Elgar’s Symphony No 1 - one of his most popular large-scale compositions.
The festive brilliance of Vivaldi’s Gloria in D and Britten’s wonderful Ceremony of Carols form the backbone of our Christmas concert. The programme includes Mozart, Corelli and carols for audience participation.
In March, pianist Guiseppe Guarrera will play the emotionally high-powered and technically demanding Concerto No 3 by Rachmaninov. The concert concludes with Vaughan Williams’ gloriously colourful London Symphony.
In May, the chorus and orchestra will be joined by four vocal soloists for the great choral writing of Haydn’s last major composition: Harmoniemesse. This will be followed by John Rutter’s Psalmfest.
